A Zero Waste Event (or “ZeeWee” as it has been nicknamed) is one in which event organizers plan ahead to reduce solid waste from the event, reuse various elements such as banners, and set up Zero-Waste Stations for those recyclable and compostable materials such as paper cups, food scraps, and plastic water bottles that are generated by the event. ZeeWees can range from large scale sports events to weddings and parties. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zero_Waste_Event
We recently held a zero waste event at Siloam Retreat. Bremerton GreenDrinks: http://www.greendrinks.org/WA/Bremerton was the perfect event to give this a try. GreenDrinkers are all about sustainability it was not difficult to convince them to re-use their wine glass, to use a cloth napkin and instead of throwing the plate away put it in the bus bin to be washed and re-used. We didn’t have gabage cans and ended up ony with a bit of compost at the end of the evening.
The event was catered by CJ’s Evergreen Catering: http://cjgeneralstore.weebly.com/ who were on board with our zero waste theme and beer was provided by Hales: http://halesbrewery.com/, who helped to support Hopstock week: https://www.facebook.com/HopstockGPBW by coordinating with other local brewers to provide samples: Valholl: http://www.valhollbrewing.com/; Rainy Daze: https://www.facebook.com/RainyDazeBrewing; Slaughter House: https://www.facebook.com/SlaughterCountyBrewing and Slippery Pig: http://www.slipperypigbrewing.com/— a shout out to all~ Thank You
It has been our pleasure to support Bremerton GreenDrinks for about 5 years with wine and beverage service. We have learned a lot about sustainability and now can confidently help to plan and host a ZeeWee=Zero Waste Event. Until we meet again, Cheers~ allow us to help you with your next event-here, there or anywhere
