We have been working hard to finish the “extreme make-over” on The Wine Shop.  We have made lots of progress and are anxious to host more events.

The Wine Shop is an ideal space for small weddings, private parties, meetings, corporate events, reunions…….you name it.  We can accommodate an event for about 50 people.

Recently we had Corbin of Corbin Photography come and take some photographs so we could present a better idea of the space.  Some are posted here, and some on the home page, and some on our Facebook Page.

If you are interested in more information or  photos please let us know.  Cheers ~

Pedal, Paddle, Play

Kitsap Peninsula is a great place to come, play and stay for the day, for a weekend, for weeks.  We have breathtaking views of the Olympic Mountains here in Scenic Seabeck.

Tour de Kitsap is happening today for bicycles and coming up on August 6-7  is Paddle Kitsap and the Puget Sound Challenge, a 150 mile paddle from Port Townsend to Olympia.

“The Puget Sound area is one of the finest kayaking places in the entire world.” David Fisher, Club Director of Puget Sound Challenge.  For more information visit http://www.olympickayakclub.com

Explore Hood Canal

Siloam is located in scenic Seabeck on the Upper Hood Canal with some of the most breath-taking views of the Olympic Mountains.

There is so much to do and explore in this area:  Wine Tasting, Hiking, Kayaking, Quaint Restaurants, Scenic Drives and then a lot of nothing just Relaxing and taking in the scenery.

Jumbo Gumbo & Wine

I’m sure it’s bad form to post blogs in a row yammering on about how busy I am; I know it’s bad form not to post daily or at least consistently and it’s almost certain that I should not start THIS blog out THIS way-

However, that being said I have been really busy and I am so looking forward to some ‘down-time’ -R-E-L-A-X-A-T-I-O-N; YES!! I can even spell the word!!

Renovations, Remodeling, Extreme Make-Over- is not for the faint at heart- it’s hard work..but hard work pays off.  The Wine Shop at Siloam Retreat in scenic Seabeck on the Kitsap Peninsula is looking GRAND!!

Tomorrow we will host a Jumbo Gumbo and Wine Event, a Private Party for Family & Friends and I will relax.  The stock for the Gumbo is prepared, the Wine will be delivered tomorrow (just in time~) and it will be a day of renewal, relaxation and rest.

Gumbo is a family tradition-I love it!! It’s like ‘soul food’, I purposely ordered our Broadmore Chenin Blanc to pair with the Chicken, Sausage and Seafood Gumbo I am preparing- sounds lovely.  I will also ‘brew’ up a Sangria- the sun will be out and we will all have good food, good wine and good times.  Cheers ~~

All Work and No Play Make For …

Siloam Retreat & Wine Shop
Siloam Retreat & Wine Shop

We opted to have a working vacation this year instead of our usual trip to Napa.  This is not easy, the day gets long, you get tired and you remember where you were last year – images of glasses clinking, wine swirling the ambiance of the Wine Cave begin to fill your head and yes………I start to ‘Wine’ a lot!!

You know the slogan- ‘Wine a bit…you’ll feel better’?  Through all the work and all the trips to the Hardware Store for materials while working on the Wine Shop; I kept seeing this little yard flag with that slogan on it- ‘Wine a bit…..you’ll feel better’.  I have heard that before and thought “That’s cute!”

This time – I bought it, yes, we now have one of those flags outside the Wine Shop.  It seemed appropriate as we were working instead of being in the Wine Cave celebrating business success.

We are experiencing business success, but as you might expect that takes hard work and work we did.  The Wine Shop is a private event venue that can be added to a stay here at Siloam Retreat.  The Retreat House offers overnight accommodations for up to 12 people and the Wine Shop is event space for up to 50 people and it is ready for entertaining.

The space is in a word “Cool”- we have hosted a wedding already and have another wedding reserved, we have had a graduation party, family reunions and soon to host several other small to medium sized events.

The renovation of the Wine Shop has been hard work but with a little wine and a lot of help from our friends we get by.  Please contact us and make arrangements to visit Siloam Retreat & Wine Shop we would love to show you around and lift a glass with you to toast the success of the wine and hospitality business, especially given the times.  We could all use a little celebration!!

Cheers ~
