How to survive a computer crash-drink more wine…

Wine Tree in the Wine Shop
Wine Tree in the Wine Shop

As promised included is a photo of the Wine Tree.  We have the walls up in the Private Wine Shop and as you can see in the photo, we have added a chalk board for guests to write messages and just have fun posting wine comments.  This also allows us to write about the wines we are serving.  We still need to frame the chalk board but you get the idea.

It has been a slow recovery from the computer crash; we are rebuilding, recreating, and rescuing files on a daily basis.  One consolation is that it happened during the holidays, so we have been busy with holiday parties, entertaining guests, and preparing for our Private New Year’s Eve Celebration, all of this has helped to keep my mind off of how much information was lost.

wineshopdinnerWe had our first meal in the Wine Shop and have since had our first Wine & Movie night.  The Private Wine Shop at Siloam Retreat is shaping up to be a comfortable, functional, ‘groovy’ place.  It’s about 700 square feet with high ceilings, a great fireplace, the tasting bar and soon the kitchen and a bathroom.  The building is about 1000 square feet and also includes our private office and a private game room.

We are looking forward to hosting guest events in the Private Wine Shop soon, if you are looking for a great place to host your next event consider Siloam Retreat & Wine Shop.  We offer overnight accommodations for up to 12 people and now can offer the use of the Private Wine Shop for Private Events for up to 50 people.  Located in scenic Seabeck, on the Kitsap Peninsula; Siloam Retreat & Wine Shop is sure to be the next hip destination location, stop by to check it out!!

Wine Tree and the computer crash

Computers really are our friends!!  I have missed mine the past few days.  For the first time in my PC life, I have had the unfortunate opportunity to experience a computer crash with the infamous blue screen of death!!  All my information gone in a flash with no explanation, no warning, it’s just gone!!

I had a mind to share my wine tree with you but the photo is on my crashed laptop.  However, I can share the concept; we took a tall noble fir tree added empty wine bottles to the truck all the way to the top, attaching them with twist ties, then we added lights, lots of lights to showcase the bottles and labels, there are a few grape clusters (white and red) and then for a finishing touch we added our Siloam Etched Stemware with great festive coasters attached.

Stay tuned…………we will get that photo posted soon.  Thank you for your patience and support during our start up and now this computer crash.

Life happens so we drink more wine at Siloam Retreat & Wine Shop in scenic Seabeck, Washington!!  Cheers ~

It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year

Happy Holidays
Happy Holidays

It’s the most wonderful time of the year……………….when loved ones are near!!  We are pleased to know that the Retreat House will be full of cheerful hearts and will provide warmth and hospitality to a family this Christmas.

A guest commented just the other day:  “The house gave me a hug as soon as I walked in!!”  That was such a nice compliment.  We have had guests from all over the country and it really is such a blessing to us as Innkeepers/Hosts to provide the service of hospitality.  Be it a private wine tasting, a private wine dinner or private retreat- it is always our pleasure to be of service.

Allow us to help you with gift giving ideas this season, Siloam Retreat & Wine Shop has so much to offer; there is something for everyone!!

Happy Holidays from our family to yours!!

Let it snow

This time last year
This time last year

Rain…………Rain…………go away!!  We had unusually cold weather and then the talk of snow; here at Siloam Retreat we got a bit of snow, enough to bring the snow plows out.  But, it’s gone, it’s raining now and we are in the middle of a sloppy, slushy thaw.

The photo on the left was taken last year at this time from inside the Retreat House out of the dining room window.  We had so much snow last year that the Retreat House became like a snow globe; out of every window we saw beautiful snow scenes.  That’s why we say “Let it Snow”  especially during this time of year, the snow is so festive, it just makes it feel more like Christmas time.

We are sure to get snow soon, if you love the peace and quiet that comes with snowfall; find yourself here at Siloam Retreat & Wine Shop in scenic Seabeck, Washington for warmth, hospitality and good wine.

Merry Christmas to all and to all a good night!!
