Giving Thanks

Thanksgiving is giving thanks; thanks for the harvest…….the bounty…………the blessings.  We all have blessings to count, one can always find something to be thankful for.

We are thankful for our family, friends and good fortune.  We have been able to surround ourselves with fantastic people and feel blessed beyond words when we think of  what we are thankful for; there is really so much to be thankful for.

We are thankful to be in the wine and hospitality business; it’s a dream really, we love people, surrounding ourselves with people who enjoy wine and time together, time away; people who enjoy a retreat, family, friends- like minded people.  We really have been blessed with the finest family, friends, and visitors at Siloam.

This Thanksgiving we raise our glass to you- all of you who have helped us bring the dream of Siloam Retreat & Wine Shop to reality.  Thank you, enjoy your family, friends, neighbors and co-workers let us know if we can help bring you all together.

Cheers ~

First Snow of the Season

Lola-the Snowwoman
Lola-the Snowwoman

Consider it early snowfall, anything before Thanksgiving, right?!!  Saturday, November 22nd about an inch fell in our neck of the woods, here at Siloam in Seabeck.

It had rained all day, buckets of rain………..we set up umbrellas for cover in the hot-tub and just as we were complaining about the rain—-we looked up and saw the first snow flake of the season, followed by more flakes, and flakes that stick together quickly to cover the ground and trees with snow.

We made snow angels and jumped right back in the hot-tub.  There is such peace in the snow, everything is blanketed in white.  It was a beautiful night, a beautiful sight……join us at Siloam sometime this season, make your own snow angel, or snowman, snowwoman, enjoy the peaceful scenery; retreat from your routine, and get-away to Siloam Retreat & Wine Shop in scenic Seabeck, on the Kitsap Peninsula, Upper Hood Canal, less than 2 hours from the Seattle Area-close enough but far away!!

Blessed by Guests in the House

Stormy Weather
Stormy Weather

This week in the Pacific Northwest, Puget Sound Region we experienced record rainfall and high winds.  At Siloam we had a power outage  and more from the stormy weather.

We were blessed to have a family of 12 staying at Siloam to celebrate a birthday.  They were so happy to be together and to have a great get-away at Siloam Retreat that they were able to overlook the fact that the power went out and other stormy hazards.  They lit candles and poured more wine, which is exactly the thing to do if the power goes out.

One of the perks of being nestled in the woods away from hustle bustle is that you may have a downed tree on occassion to cause power outages; it’s a perk because sometimes a good storm is very exciting.  Sometimes it takes a power outage or getting snowed in to cause us to slow down.  Especially in these times of constant connection.

Power outages and any other storm damage are temporary, often a hardship, sometimes a blessing in disguise, as a result we often find ourselves closer to one another snuggled up to hold out til the storm is over, or the snow melts, or the power returns, or the rain stops.  One can even find a sense of pride and courage having made it through the storm.

Don’t hesitate to venture out this season, you might just find yourself here in scenic Seabeck, Kitsap County at Siloam Retreat & Wine Shop!!

Christmas at Siloam

Dashing through the snow
Dashing through the snow

Right now we are wishing for snow instead of RAIN.  RAIN, RAIN, GO AWAY……you hear a lot about how much it rains in the Pacific Northwest, in Washington, in the Puget Sound Region-well during the month of October and November you know that’s true.

It has been raining non-stop, like someone turned on the faucet and left it on.  The ground is soaked, everything is damp…..but soon it will freeze and snow will fall.  Snow is so much prettier than rain, don’t you think?
38 days to Christmas……how many days til snow?  Snow is new, bright, and a blanket of the holiday season.  Speaking of the holidays………….have you ordered your wine gifts?
