What’s in a Label?

Wine Labels

Wine Labels seem to be getting some attention recently.  Some people find it confusing to know “Who made the wine?”

The Wine Making Process is a multiple step process;  there is the grape grower, the vintner, the producer, etc….etc…….sometimes a wine is estate grown, vinted, produced and bottled; most often not.

WineShop At Home has created the following information to help lessen confusion from wine labels:  thearchitectureofalabel

Labels are required to include specific information:  http://www.ttb.gov/pdf/brochures/p51901.pdf

It’s not really that confusing; it’s just understanding the process and knowing the difference between where the grapes were grown and who made the wine which often are not the same winery.  A winery may not be a vineyard, the winery may not even grow grapes; the more we pour the more people we encounter who seem to confused by this point in particular.

A Private Wine Tasting offers an ideal intimate setting for questions.  You have heard that there are “no stupid questions” right?  Ask away!!  The next time you are at a wine tasting- ask?  Sometimes a public wine tasting in a tasting room can be crowded, intimidating; if you find this simply contact us to schedule a private wine tasting and get our undivided attention.

Some of the fun in wine tasting is gaining knowledge.  Ask!  Taste!  Learn!

Private Wine Tastings

Wine & Food Pairing

Wine & Food Pairing

With our early spring-like weather here in the Pacific Northwest on Puget Sound in Scenic Seabeck on the Upper Hood Canal-we are anxious to get outdoors and host more Private Wine Tastings.  There is nothing like gathering with family and friends in the privacy of your own Retreat to swirl, sniff and sip some exclusive wines from Napa, California.

Blooms and buds are everywhere throughout the property here at Siloam Retreat & Wine Shop-the scent of early-spring is in the air; you can pick up hints of rosemary, lavendar and soon the roses will bloom; we did say early-spring.

Join us for a Private Wine Tasting, invite your family, friends, colleagues, co-workers to experience Siloam; we are nearly 7 days without rain-the main lawn is slowly drying out and will be ready for lawn games soon.  It’s like a breath of fresh air, coming out of hibernation; our consecutive days of clear, crisp weather has us shaking off our winter dullness and getting ready to spring into action.

What better way to do that than to host a Private Wine Tasting, the air is chilly but we can warm by the campfire, and close with a soak in the hot-tub.  We recently released some fabulous wines that are unique and definitely deserve a whirl-Our 2009 Mendocino Misiti Bianco is a blend of Tocai Friulano, Pinot Grigio and Arneis; all white grapes from Northern Italy, with a little bit of Sauvignon Blanc- ‘a taste explosion’.

Happily ever after….

February 16th, 2010

Valentine’s Day reminds us to love one another….after a marriage or over twenty years people are often amazed at our love for one another; “it’s so genuine”- “it’s so apparent, you can tell that you two are happy and in love”- someone just mentioned that they could tell we still had an active sex life and that was surprising because she thought ‘long-time’ married couples just didn’t have sex, certainly didn’t want to have sex and almost were no longer sexually attracted to one another.

It’s interesting to us- we don’t feel like we have anything unique, but the observations of our relationship are correct we are still in love, we are still sexually attracted to one another- we are set for happily ever after.  That is not to say that we don’t have difficulties in our relationship and every day is Valentine’s Day- but we do have and offer each other the gift of loving each other completely, vulnerably, whole-heartily and accept each other fully.

As a matter of fact our happily ever after is better and moving more towards true happiness with each passing year.  It is our sincere wish for all couples to have happily ever after and would love to hear from couples about their happily ever after story.  Sometimes, it’s easier or more the norm to complain about your relationship- love is contagious, let’s share our love stories and spread happily ever after.

A stay at Siloam Retreat can help renew your love for one another, join us at Siloam in Seabeck, Washington; allow us to help create the perfect atmosphere and environment for your love to grow.  It’s never too late for happily ever after….
